NOTICE OF 2002 Spring Charity REGATTA

April 6, 2002

REGATTA FOR RESEARCH:

RACING FOR WOMENS HEALTH

Benefits: Women’s Health Research

Location: Essex Yacht Club, Novelty Lane, Essex, Connecticut

Classes: Laser, Blue Jays, JY 15, 420 and Etchells

Eligibility: Opened to all skippers (not necessarily the helmsperson) who are at least fifteen (15) years of age as of March 9, 2002. Written permission from parents or guardians required for skippers under eighteen (18) years of age must be received before the start of racing on April 6, 2002.

Equipment & Class Rules: The Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 shall apply. All sailors

shall wear zipped or tied U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s) at all times while on the water. Blue Jays must be registered with the National Blue Jay Class Association: all class rules will be observed, except spinnakers are not allowed: combined minimum crew weight is 285 lbs. JY15’s shall be governed by the JY15 Class Association rules. Laser sailors shall wear zipped full torso wet or dry suits, and shall sail under their class rules and be registered with the ILCA. Etchells must carry a VHF radio (race committee channel 68) and an anchor at all times. All yachts must display proper sail numbers per USSA rules

Entry Fee: $30 for Etchells, $25 for Blue Jay, 420 and JY15 and $20 for Laser. Only a properly completed entry form and full fee will be considered an entry. Includes T-shirt for the event

Parking: Vehicles must be in the grass/gravel lot at the Essex Y.C. No parking is allowed on any paved area. Failure to comply may result in a DSQ for the day’s racing.

Race Committee & Crash Boats: Have friends and family who would like to watch you sail? Just like to help out? We need volunteers to help with crash boat duties and scoring duties on the Race Committee vessels. Please call Commodore Bill Kenney at 860-767-0609.

Skipper Meeting & Racing: Skippers meeting will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, April 6, 2002. Sailing instructions will course charts will be available at the registration desk. Racing starts at 12:00pm.

Awards: At the end of the racing day, there will be refreshments and awards.
